Palm Sunday and Holy Week
Palm Sunday 16th March at 6.00 p.m. at Whitley Parish Church, a service to bring together the themes of the series and worship together . For everyone whether you attended the study groups or not.
Wednesday in Holy Week 19th March 7.00 p.m. at Thornhill Parish Church our traditional themed evening with a meal and Eucharist. Tickets now available from all our churches priced at £3.50. The evening will be based on the Agape. Agape is ranked by Christian moral theologians with faith and hope as a basic virtue. The name agape was given, also, to an early Christian love feast, an evening communal meal held often in connection with the Lord's Supper. At the agape, food brought by the people was solemnly blessed in advance of the repast.’ ‘John Wesley, designed the first loving cup in the 18th century for use at "love feasts." Christians gathered for the feasts at house churches or small groups, praying, reading Scriptures, encouraging one another and testifying to God's love in their lives. They ate a simple meal of bread and water. Not to be confused with Holy Communion, the love feast, or agape meal, recalled the meals other than the Last Supper that Jesus shared with the disciples and others.’ Our meal will be more substantial but we shall sing, pray, listen to the Bible and hear witness from all our churches and join in the Eucharist
