The Thornhill branch of Mothers Union made and donated much needed comfort packs to patients at Pinderfields.
Penny Hartley, from The Thornhill branch of the Mothers Union was treated in hospital in Newcastle and saw they were distributing comfort packs.
At the next meeting Penny raised the idea that the Thornhill branch should start making these packs and donated them to people who need them. Each member donated £2 to buy as many items as possible which were made into packs. The items included shower gel, shampoo and toothpaste amongst other essential toiletry items. Helen Armitage and Mary Collins purchased all the items and brought the finished packs in to Pinderfields Hospital.
The group intend to keep on making the packs in the future.
Gwen Shackelton, Voluntary Services Co-ordinator said “We are so grateful for the generous donations. They make such a difference to our patients.”

A very wet and cold Heritage weekend this year. Result was fewer people than normal turning out. Interesting exhibition, super talk by Stuart Hartley and a good tea party with excellent entertainment.
